Patient Spotlight: Nate Burton

Nate Burton

Not only has West Virginia State University Athletic Director Nate Burton benefited from FamilyCare’s location on campus directly—he’s also witnessed its positive impact on students and the surrounding community.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Charleston, WV.

How long have you worked as Athletic Director at WVSU? What drew you to this position?

I am in my seventh year as Athletic Director at WVSU. I played basketball at Washington & Jefferson College. When I graduated, I knew I wanted to stay in college athletics in some capacity. I am fortunate to have had the opportunities that led me back to WV and serve in this role.

What do you most enjoy doing in your free time?

Spending time with my kids and supporting them in their passions. We love the outdoors and traveling.

How and when did you become a FamilyCare patient?

I became a FamilyCare patient in 2020. I was looking for a primary care physician that was accessible, had ample experience, and that I felt comfortable with. I found all of those at FamilyCare.

What do you value most about your experience with FamilyCare?

The thing I value most is the quality of service that I receive. Nobody enjoys going to the doctor, but when I go, I know that I am not going to be there long and that I am going to have a good experience.

What impact have FamilyCare’s services had on WVSU students and members of the community?

It has been an incredible partnership for our University with FamilyCare. Our students receive excellent service and families feel that their child is in great hands with FamilyCare.

What would you tell someone interested in becoming a FamilyCare patient?

The staff will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The doctors are professional, respectful, and thorough. You won’t regret your decision to visit a FamilyCare office.
