FamilyCare is a non-profit community health center and federally qualified health center (FQHC) overseen by a community board of directors. FamilyCare meets the standards set by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) for a patient centered medical home.

FamilyCare is supported by funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Health Resources and Services Administration and by funds from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
