Patient Spotlight: Jo Ann Skiles

Q: Where are you from?

A: Fosterville, WV in Boone County

What do you do professionally and/or in your personal time?

I’m a former nurse—an LPN-PH—but that’s been a long time since I’ve been a nurse. In my free time, I like to swim but haven’t gotten to in a while. So I like to crochet and sew when I can.

Why did you initially choose FamilyCare for your services?

I had a diabetic doctor, but I was running to several different offices where I had to make appointments at, and I decided I wanted to come somewhere where they can take care of my whole body at one place, and FamilyCare was able to offer that for me.

What do you value most about your experience with FamilyCare?

The people—they care about you. They’ll bend over backwards to help you. I’ve been to the locations at Patrick Street and in Teays Valley and you can’t beat it. I’ve never had a bad experience in getting care that I need.

What advice would you give to new patients interested in the nutrition program?

Bring a pen and paper when you get there, and don’t expect to learn everything in one trip. It’s a process and the more often you hear Grace talk to people, you become more comfortable with the program. She’ll always give answers for all the questions, and if you need more details, she’ll take the time to answer those questions individually with everyone. You don’t feel clueless when you ask questions to her—she’s fantastic.

What do you think makes FamilyCare’s services unique?

There is more than one location and if you need to go to another location, you’ll get the same service, professionalism and treatment at them all.
